Psychologist Magdalena Borska returns to Poland after several years of absence from the country and starts working in a hospital. Already on the first day, the doctor has to face not only the patients' problems, but also the reluctance of the entire medical team, especially Andrzej Stomma, the head of surgery. The hospital employees hide from Magda the trauma they are experiencing after the failed rescue operation that took place six months earlier. A shopping center and a cinema were on fire at that time. Dozens of severely burned victims were taken to hospital. Most of them could not be saved, and one of the hospital's best surgeons, Jan Sowiński, was accused of malpractice.
