Overview
The story takes place at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. Ye Wanxin (played by Li Bingbing), who was born in a civilian family, could not help herself. She could not sleep with her childhood sweetheart, but was forced to marry Wu Huixiang (played by Li Zonghan), the eldest son of Baoyuan Qihao. Huixiang has been ill for a long time, and his family arranged this marriage to cheer him up, but he does not have any good impressions of Wanxin, who is completely emotionless.
