Overview
The story takes place in Shanghai and Taipei from the mid-1990s to the early 21st century. Xu Ning, who studied in the United States with a doctorate in architectural engineering, was an orphan who grew up in Shikumen, Shanghai. After completing his studies, he undertook the construction engineering design of Shanghai Changhe Real Estate Company. During the joint venture, the real estate project was deceived by Taiwanese businessman Gao Jun, causing the legal representative Lin Changgen to suffer a heart attack. Xu Ning rushed back before his adoptive father died and took over all the trusts of the real estate company and Lin. Hong Kong business celebrity Bai Haoran is actually Xiao Jingyun's biological father. He abandoned Jingyun and her mother in Taiwan in his early years. He is the chairman of Shanghai Dayang Group. He wanted to get his biological daughter, and wanted to use Gao Jun's incident to set up a perfect trap to lure Jingyun to leave the Xiao family and return to him. In the process of handling the incident, Xiao Jingyun accidentally became a partner of Changhe Real Estate and began to cooperate with Xu Ning.
