Overview
The story tells the adventure of a family, made up of Nunzia, Uccio and their three children who live in Cisternino (although many scenes were filmed in Ostuni), until the head of the family decides to move to work as a worker at FIAT in Turin, leaving his children and wife in Puglia instead. Nunzia finds work in a bar and one day she receives the task of bringing lunch to the construction site and thanks to the intervention of two passers-by she manages to save herself from the attempted rape of two workers on the same construction site. However, the woman soon decides to move with her children to Turin to join her husband. There the family's life is not as rosy as they had hoped, and initially, given the excessive cost of rent, they are hosted by the family of a worker, who also emigrated from the south.
