Overview
The play is set against the backdrop of the Anti-Japanese War and is based on the famous Jiaozhuanghu tunnel battle story, Shunyi liquor anecdotes and treasure-protecting stories spread in the Chaobai area of eastern Hebei during the Anti-Japanese War. It was created by Ma Cheng, a famous local writer in Shunyi District, Beijing, and took one year to complete. "Qizhi" took place in 1938. In the smoke of the Anti-Japanese War, in order to avoid the war, in Niushan Town, Chaobai area on the edge of eastern and western Hebei, a handwritten copy of the "Tao Te Ching" inadvertently appeared. As a result, the Japanese and puppet troops, miscellaneous outfits, stragglers, bandits and civilians who had been spying on its secrets for many years in the name of resisting Japan, and those who wanted to make a fortune swarmed in and started fighting openly and secretly. For a time, there were strange and clever ideas and dangers abounded. Our army selected Lin Feng (Lei Zhen), an excellent grassroots commander, to skillfully penetrate into the enemy's interior, rely on the masses, and deal with it with great wisdom and courage. Under the leadership of the Communist Party and the Eighth Route Army, the treasure finally returned to the people's hands.
