Overview
In the turbulent era of war, Lan Zeguang (played by Hou Yong) and Wang Tieshan (played by Lin Yongjian), who were born in rural areas, fell in love with the charming female soldier Yang Tao (played by Yin Tao), so they put on their military uniforms and became soldiers of the 709th Regiment of the 27th Division. The two of them lingered around Yang Tao and showed their hospitality. Their experiences of life and death built up an extraordinary relationship between the three people, but Yang Tao always had a hard time choosing between them. After the founding of New China, Lan Zeguang and Wang Tieshan, who had always been competing, were promoted to battalion commanders respectively. They participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea with the large troops. Unexpectedly, the tragic Shuangyushu Highlands caused a rift in the friendship between the two good comrades, and the disappearance of Carambola cast an indelible shadow on their lives. Afterwards, Lan Zeguang accepted the organization's arrangements to start a family, but he and Wang Tieshan never gave up hope of finding star fruit. Group portraits of Chinese soldiers in times of war and peace... This film is adapted from Xu Guixiang's novel of the same name.
