Smoke is gushing out from the crater of Aso. Peeking curiously into the crater is the “wandering genius painter” Kiyoshi Yamashita (Muga Tsukaji). Wandering in the ``Land of Fire, Kumamoto.'' Among the tourists, a young woman was staring at the crater thoughtfully. Tears in those eyes... The woman (Satomi Ishihara) finally smiles at Kiyoshi's unusual words. However, Kiyoshi is mistaken for a gang of con artists (Shingo Yanagisawa) and runs away, chased by angry customers. After successfully escaping, Kiyoshi encounters a Yamaga lantern dancer in Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Kiyoshi is drawn to her beauty and begins to dance with her. However, she gets scolded and says, ``You're crazy! Yamaga Toro Dance is only for girls.'' The angry Tsuyoko (Etsuko Ichihara) is a stubborn person as her name suggests, but she is a good doctor and is loved by the townspeople. Kiyoshi ends up staying at Kenko's clinic and helping her out, causing yet another unusual incident. The Yachiyo-za playhouse built by Kyoko's grandfather is in danger of being demolished due to poor attendance, and Kyoko is worried. A woman who had been crying from the crater was brought to Gunko's clinic as an emergency patient. The woman's name is Tami, and she seems to have suddenly disappeared from her boyfriend, doctor Hiroki Itsuno (Shogo Yamaguchi). Although she is like a daughter to Kyoko, she does not even tell her the reason for her disappearance. However, Tami's hardened heart gradually heals due to Kiyoshi's kindness. Hiroki's father, Koichiro Itsuno (Akira Nakao), appears to Kiyoshi and Tsuyoko in a furious state. He is also a stubborn person. Koichiro, who cannot accept that his son Hiroki's marriage to his partner is about to fall apart because of Tami, presses Kiyoshi and Tami to get married. The issue of Yachiyo-za's survival, the Qing Dynasty's marriage turmoil, and the town of Kumamoto is in great turmoil...
