Overview
On October 30, 1911, Cai E launched the Chongjiu Uprising in Yunnan in response to the Wuchang Uprising. Thanks to the efforts of many far-sighted people, the Qing Dynasty finally came to an end. Two years after the Chongjiu Uprising, Cai E was transferred to Beijing by the interim president Yuan Shikai. Many forces competed, and the crisis always surrounded Cai E. In order to paralyze Yuan Shikai, Cai E disguised himself as a romantic soldier and got acquainted with Xiao Fengxian, a famous prostitute in the capital. After confirming Yuan Shikai's true face of being determined to become emperor, Cai E made up his mind to rebel against Yuan. With the help of people from all parties, Cai E fled Beijing, returned to Yunnan, and launched the National Defense Uprising to denounce Yuan Shikai's restoration.
