A group of people come together to save the world by traveling into different worlds and finding battle keys.
As Vert joy rides across the salt flats being pursued by Sheriff John J. Johnson Jr he is sucked into a stormshock portal. He rescues Sage – the last of the Blue Sentients – who is fleeing from Kalus and his Vandals. While in the zone, she uses one of the five crystals on her necklace, along with the MOBI, to transform Vert's old car into the ultra-cool Saber. She then sets the MOBI to self-destruct so the Vandals can't get their claws on it. Driving his new high-powered ride, Vert escapes with Sage back to Earth.
The BF5 work together for the first time as a team and clash with the Sark and Vandals in the deadly Clockwork Battlezone. While they vanquish Zemerik and the Sark, Vert discovers another MOBI that is cloaked in the battlezone. But they're too beaten down to retrieve it, so they return to Earth and inform Sage.
When the BF5 enter a battlezone that turns out to be an enormous bio-mechnical creature, Zemerik uses a Phase Metal Virus to take over control of Agura's Tangler (with Agura helplessly trapped inside). Zemerik proceeds to use the Tangler to snag the battlekey, and the rest of the BF5 thinks she's turned traitor.
When Vert feels that his team needs extra training due to their proclivity for doing things their own way, Stanford lobbies for practice in the previously secured Tropical Battlezone, that's supposedly bad-guy free.
In preparation for his upcoming stand-up routine at Zeke's open mic night, Spinner decides to practice his zingers at Zoom's expense – pointing out how young and inexperienced Zoom is.
The BF5 must capture a battlekey in a junkyard battlezone complete with ferocious mechanized junkyard dog. When Sherman is temporarily blinded, Spinner must walk in his "Little Brother's" shoes as he guides them out of danger. As an added twist, when Kalus gets trapped with the Cortez Brothers, they have to merge the Buster and Fangore to help escape the junkyard dog.
Vert's show boating style backfires when the geometric battlezone moves and Vert accidentally drives through a portal into the Vandal homeworld. Kalus captures him, but ends up setting Vert loose in the jungle so he can hunt him a la "The Most Dangerous Game."
When Zug takes a direct hit in battle, his damaged memory causes him to imprint on Stanford, and become his robotic manservant.
The BF5 enter a battlezone that is an ancient ruin, featuring icons that look like Stanford. Turns out one of Stanford's ancestors was an explorer who entered the multiverse long ago. Inspired by his noble family history, Stanford challenges Vert's authority, goaded on by Krocomodo who has discovered a statue of a reptile ancestor who allegedly made a peace pact with Stanford's ancestor.
When an impressionable Zoom tries to copy one of Vert's death-defying moves after they've secured a battlezone, he accidentally wipes out. Hatch seizes the moment to get a parting blow and hits Zoom with poison gas!
When Zeke finds a Sentient Data-Log in the desert and he's struck by lightning, the massive amount of information within is transferred into Zeke's brain. Becoming "enlightened" by the data, Zeke approaches the BF5 and tells them he knows they're heroes and he understands their mission.
A stormshock anomaly causes the BF5 to enter a battlezone that contains their opposites: the evil BF5. As both sides fight "themselves" for control of the battlekey, Vert gets captured by his evil doppelganger. Evil Vert dons Good Vert's red shock suit and sneaks back to Earth, pretending to be one of the good guys.
Zoom's past catches up to him when an old martial arts buddy – Zen – comes to Handler Corners looking for him. Zen has strict orders from old Master Takeyasu to bring Zoom back to the Order of the Flying Fists, which he fled from not too long ago. Master T believes Zoom to be the Chosen One who has the responsibility of defending the ancient Blue Flame and delivering his people from tyranny.
Sage creates a device to shut down all the stormshock portals permanently, thus protecting the multiverse from the Vandals and Sark. But when Spinner accidentally throws a wrench into the works – literally! – the device explodes and teleports the diner and surrounding desert into a battlezone!
The BF5 enter a battlezone of tracks, loops and ramps and fight the Vandals for control of the key. Or keys… because there seem to be holographic duplicates of it everywhere!
During a fight in a battlezone with the Sark, Sherman and Spinner squabble. Sherman thinks Spinner's all play and no work and vice versa. But when Zemerik manages to rip the top off the Buster and drag it back to Sark – along with Spinner – Sherman is determined to rescue his Big Brother.
Stanford and Agura are grating on one another's nerves lately. So when the BF5 enter an ice zone, Stanford really annoys Agura when he deploys his Sonic Blasters and causes her Tangler to fall into an ice crevasse.
The BF5 head into a zone and battle the Sark for control of the key. Which proves difficult for both sides because the key has a reverse magnetic polarity, which means that the closer the vehicles come, the more likely they are to repel it away.
When Hatch creates a time-stopping device and freezes open a stormshock portal leading to Earth, the BF5 have a situation on their hands.
Unbeknownst to Vert and Sage, with each victory in a battlezone, the Cortez Brothers have been keeping little artifacts and tokens of their success. They've been storing them in the Hub.
The BF5 battle the Vandals in the Hive Zone. But when they attempt to penetrate the Mecha-Wasp Hive and secure the key, Vert and Hatch become trapped inside.
The BF5 enter the Gladiator Zone to retrieve a battlekey. As they fight the Vandals, both sides end up becoming prey to a larger foe. It turns out the zone is controlled by a mysterious robot named TORS-10, who pits the Vandals and BF5 against each other in gladiator-like bouts.
When Sage detects that the Cycloid Battlezone – a gyroscopic-like zone that functions to stabilize the multiverse – is malfunctioning, she sends the BF5 in to repair it.
When the BF5 suffer from data glitches in their vehicles that put them in jeopardy, they do a little analysis and discover something disturbing: that Sage and the MOBI's software have become corrupted!
The BF5 head into the Powerplant Battlezone that powers the multiverse. Not only do they manage to secure the key, but in a stroke of luck, they manage to destroy the Vandals and the Sark when a transformer explodes!
Stranded on the Blue Sentient Homeworld, the BF5 must find and rescue Sage, who has been captured by Kalus. Because the homeworld is teaming with its Vandal conquerors, the BF5 and Zemerik are forced to form an unlikely alliance. If they can find Sage, she can figure out how to get them back to their respective planets.
After barely escaping Krytus, the BF5 regroup on Earth in order to repair the Hub and upgrade their vehicles.
On a recon mission to Sark, Zoom confirms Vert's worst fears: that Zemerik is up to his old tricks and is attempting to rebuild his Blue Sark army. But Zoom also discovers something much more terrifying: that Krytus and Kytren aren't dead after all. It appears they've come back from the dead!
Sage gets a distress signal from a MOBI that crash-landed beneath the surface of the Vandal Ocean. And it turns out it's carrying a valuable cargo: Blue Sentient Data-Logs!
When Grimian – a powerful Ape Vandal – snags the battlekey in a battlezone, he challenges Kalus for leadership. Kalus is forced to defend his "crown" (the Talon of Vandal) in the ritual of Kio hakoko – a series of difficult challenges.
Thanks to a tip from Zemerik, the BF5 head to a Red Sark Moon in the hopes of linking up with a mysterious resistance movement that is giving Krytus and his Red Sark army some difficulty.
When Sage has a disturbing nightmare about a mysterious artifact known as the Double-Helix Crystals, she orders the BF5 to find them before The Crimson One can get his hands on them. If he does, he'll be able to release the frozen Red Sentient civilization, destroy Sage, and achieve his goal of ruling the multiverse.
The BF5 have survived the initial onslaught of the Red Sentients and decide it's about time to turn the tables on their new enemies. They're going to take the initiative by attempting to destroy Kytren's respawn chamber. If they do that, the Red Sentient will be unable to resurrect and will be destroyed forever. Then, it's just a matter of picking off the remaining four, one by one.
The BF5 discover a battlezone that contains a cave full of Blue Sentient shells. Guarding them is a small Diad named Quardian, who used to be the servant of an ancient Blue Sentient named Boralis.
Ages ago, the Blue Sentient Council of Five fired a terraforming pod in order to rapidly build a new homeworld for the Blues. Unfortunately, it went astray and disappeared in the depths of the multiverse…until Sage finds it!
While searching for a secret backdoor portal to the Red Sentient Homeworld, Vert and Tezz are led, instead, to a secret factory on Planet Vandal.
While battling the Vandals, a freak fusion accident causes Sherman and Grimian's brains to switch. So unbeknownst to the BF5, they accidentally take Grimian (in Sherman's body) back to Earth, while the Sherman (in Grimian's body) stays on Planet Vandal…
When an earthquake accidentally dislodges the Mouth of the Dragon – an ancient structure designed to seal a quantum flux tear – Zen is drawn into the Red Sentient homeworld and pursued by Krytus and his team. Fortunately, he sends an SOS to Zoom and the BF5, who immediately set out to help him.
When Krytus creates a Pulse Scanner – a device capable of locating Blue Sentients with interdimensional sonar – the BF5 must figure out how to destroy it before he uses it to locate Sage on Earth.
While hunting down the Red Sentients, the BF5 catch them in the middle of one of their nefarious plots: they're trying to take out Rawkus – the Eternal Equalizer – so they can dominate the multiverse.

The BF5 discover that Krytus and the Red Sentients are hunting for a rare and nearly extinct beast: the legendary Magmatrox! The beasts used to roam the multiverse by the thousands, but were hunted to the verge of extinction by the Reds in ancient times; the Reds used the beasts' rhinoceros-like horns to enhance their psychic powers. Sadly, Krytus is hunting down the last known Magmatrox and it's up to the BF5 to stop him!
While investigating Krytus's ancient interrogation zone, the BF5 discover a surviving Blue Sentient – Sage's old mentor and a former member of the Council of Five! Not to mention the twin brother of Kytren.
The BF5 join forces with an unlikely ally: Zemerik! He has intel that Krytus is trying to activate an ancient factory battlezone that will allow him to upgrade his Red Sark army and become unstoppable. Zemerik has a special virus that he can upload into the zone in order to stop Krytus. But he needs the BF5 to give him access to the battlezone so he can unleash it.
While the BF5 fight their enemies in a battlezone, Vert is saved from destruction by a mysterious warrior who intervenes. Turns out the mysterious warrior is Jack Wheeler – Vert's long lost dad!

While investigating a mysterious signal on Planet Vandal, the BF5 uncover a shocking truth: that Grimian has been secretly working with Krytus and the Red Sentients to overthrow Kalus and form a grand alliance.
When Sage starts acting suspiciously, Vert follows her into a battlezone, only to have his suspicions confirmed by, of all people, Krytus. Krytus convinces Vert that Sage is actually more dangerous than he is!
To weaken both Zemerik and the Reds, Sage attempts to create an anti-Sark super virus. If successfully manufactured and administered, all the Sark – both blue and red – will be rendered useless, leaving Zemerik and the Reds without armies.
The BF5 work with their old Kharamanos ally, Tromp, to deliver a debilitating blow to Kalus and his Vandals. They plan to covertly penetrate a caldera in the middle of the Vandal homeworld that is the main power core of the planet and plant a Phase Nullification Bomb. When detonated, it will destroy any Sentient-based technology on the planet – effectively taking out all the Vandals' vehicles and weaponry.
When Krytus and his team figure out a way to unfreeze The Frozen Ones – the millions upon millions of Red Sentients caught in the Double-Helix Stasis Field – the BF5 must act quickly to balance the playing field. Vert realizes that there's only one way to do that – by reuniting the Blue Sentient minds with their shells and restoring the entire Blue Sentient civlization.
