Overview
The story takes place in China in 1941. The raging war has plunged people's lives into poverty and hardship. Gui Ting (played by Gao Xin) could not bear the impoverished life, abandoned his wife Xueer (played by Jia Jingwen), and came together with the rich girl Liao Wanzhen (played by Xu Rongzhen) who had always admired him. In despair, Xueer thought of taking her own life, but was rescued by Bai Lang (played by Huang Shaoqi) when her life was hanging by a thread. With Bai Lang's help, Xueer stepped into the mixed Shanghai entertainment circle, and soon became a famous social butterfly, and was deeply loved by the tycoon Qiao Xiannong (played by Sun Xing). The unexpected death of her son put Xueer's life into a desperate situation again. She accepted Qiao Xiannong's love against her will and wanted to use the latter to exact revenge on Guiting. Xue'er, who was blinded by hatred, didn't realize that Bai Lang had been guarding her so lovingly and affectionately all this time.
