For 18 years, Danny's dad has kept him locked away in their home, safe from the 'monsters' outside. But one day, Danny's world comes crashing down.

Since Danny was a baby, his dad has kept him locked away in a house in the middle of nowhere, safe from the monsters outside.

Danny's desire to defend his dad only strengthens when he realises that other people might not have loved Steve in the same way he did.

Aaron is dismayed when Sue insists that he take Danny along to watch the football with his newfound mates. But Danny's preoccupation with the monster responsible for his mum's death soon leads both boys into trouble.

Having returned to Mead Farm to work off their debt, Danny embarks on a journey of discovery to try to learn more about the monster who killed his mum, while Aaron navigates the beginnings of a crush on farmhand Daisy.

Danny and Aaron enjoy dancing at a party at the farm. But when Danny is confronted with a monstrous vision of his dad he finds his world crumbling, forcing him to make one last desperate effort to defend the man he loves so much.

Aaron is furious with Danny for ruining his chances with Daisy. Meanwhile, Danny is slowly falling apart, having fallen out with the only friend he has ever had, and now being forced to re-evaluate his entire life inside the house with his dad.

A place in sheltered accommodation is found for Danny and a heartbroken Sue drops him off. With nothing left to lose, Danny embarks on an adventure across town.

Danny returns home, desperate for the security of when everything was simple. He sits in the cold, draughty shell that used to be his whole world, and finally, in flashback, his final days inside the house are revealed in full.
