Petty con artist and thief Max pretends to be a fake inspector on the train. However, the situation gets out of his hands and in order to escape justice, he suddenly finds himself in the real cassock of a priest in the small town of Kralovany. As a new parish priest, Max becomes part of the local community, influences the destinies of parishioners and helps them solve their problems in his own and very unconventional way. Unexpectedly, he fits in quickly in the town and becomes an advisor and an authority of the locals. At the same time, he has to help his brother in Bratislava, who has been dragging him into trouble all his life and has now gotten him into huge debts with the local underworld boss. In Kralovany, Max finds a way for him and his brother to pay off their debts. But he also runs into a completely different problem - the head of the amateur congregation of parishioners and the local policewoman Eva are starting to show interest in the new pastor...
