Ed Brown, a grizzled, gin-swigging old garage owner, who keeps his booze in the cash register, and who, like Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof," maintains a running dialogue with God; Freddie Prinze is Chico Rodriguez, the Chicano Vietnam veteran who calls himself "Super-Mex" and who wants to run Jack's garage for him, be his partner. He even wants Jack to switch to tequila: "Mexican holy water..."
