This popular, long-running show was initially about Oscar Crucke, the coach of amateur football team 'F.C. De Kampioenen', who's referred to as "De Kampioen" (The Champion). The series follows the adventures of his family, the chairman and sponsor of the team Balthazar Boma as well as forward Pico, goalkeeper Xavier and their wives. Football unites these people, while the focus is mainly based on their daily lives.

De Kampioenen have an important match to play, but the new shirts Boma promised haven't arrived yet.

Pascale bought an antique cupboard without telling it to Oscar. With the same money, Oscar got himself a new camcorder.

Doortje is angry because Pico is always busy in soccer. Meanwhile, Carmen gets furious when Xavier fails once again for his promotion examination.

Pico is going to try to break a cycling endurance record in order to collect money for De Kampioenen.

Doortje gets tired of being a housewife. Carmen and Pascale suggest her to go work for DDT, who is searching for a secretary.

Boma finally convinced Pascale to move in with him. Bieke doesn't want to be left in the pub, the tam fears it may close down, so they hatch a plan to match Pascale with her bachelor boss Jos Dobbelaere instead, but he mistakes the offer for dating Bieke. DDT believes Boma will sell him the pub and asks his dragon mother Gerogette for capital, but she moves in, pushing out Pol and Doortje despite their lease, and proves hard to chase.

The pub would be closed a game night as Bieke has other priorities, but the team protests so Xavier and Carmen end up deciding to try running it. Owner Boma however isn't exactly impressed with the clumsy first go and demands earning results. Carmen decides to organize a fancy dinner evening, but Xavier fails as chef and the entertainment he found, his garrison's military band, pleases even less then their menu and service. Meanwhile Boma takes Pascake along ti the eat industry's annual gala where he's ti speech, but she finds the fancy setting doesn't come with gentlemanly manners.

A poorly handled pregnancy test kit starts a series of false parenthood presumptions. While Xavier gets used to his Carmen becoming a mother, in fact only fostering the local GP's dog, Pascale and her daughter suspect each-other of irresponsible sex 'hitting'.

Two talent scouts tell DDT they heard De Kampioenen have a fantastic player and they want to buy him for their team. DDT sees an opportunity to make some money and, finally, get rid of De Kampioenen because he knows that without soccer ace Pol, they're lost. DDT tells the talent scouts he'll arrange the deal. However, despite the money he can make and the good team he can be in, Pol doesn't want to leave De Kampioenen because they're his friends. DDT doesn't understand this at all, but it does give him an idea: To sow discord, he starts spreading the rumor Pol has made some vile remarks about the team.

Xavier is sick and tired of being ordered around in the army, at home and in the team. Pol's jocular remark about a clone inspires him to pretend being his nonexistent identical twin Roger. Dimitri believes his story to have founded an African gold mine and plans to swap his garage for it. Boma however refuses to accept the brothers not being an speaking terms and orders a reconciliation. He soon gets caught in his own lies and gets a taste of his own medicine.

For Valentine's day, Boma used Pol's picture to arrange a date with seemingly like-minded prospective business partner Annemie. Boma fails to take PR threats seriously from hippie environmentalist activist An Mertens. Misunderstandings start rumors about Pol and Boma as cheaters. Xavier desperately seeks any chore to get out of Carmen's love night plans.

A man named Didier claims he is Dimitri's long-lost son. Boma is looking for a successor to take over his factory.

Boma's villa is being renovated, so he invites himself to stay so long at Pascale's, non-withstanding her doubts and Bieke's gross hostility, leaving Mark i the middle between male bonding and lapdog boyfriend obedience. Dimitri needs to impress cab company boss Van Thillo but refuses to pay for a restaurant, so he jumps at Pol's jocular suggestion to pretend he owns Boma's villa. The football team plans to tip off Boma who meanwhile supervises Xavier's coaching from too close for everybody's good.

Kevin, a little nephew of Pascale's, comes to stay. The boy is a good footballer and Boma wants to start a youth team, F.C. De Kapoenen. Against the will of Dimitri.

Pascale has found a new man: a baron. She doesn't want the baron knows that she's running the canteen. To avoid that, she invites him at Boma's place.

Doortje works on her assertiveness. She has consulted Truus Pinkers, Bernard's ex-wife. Truus and Bernard have plans to remarry but they fail to agree on the right date.

Pascale wants that Bieke and Marc get married. Bernard tries to connect Marc and Doortje.

Carmen wants to open up a restaurant. After a failed attempt in her store, she tries her luck in the canteen. Carmen is supported by Boma, who's tricking Pascale.

Carmen is sick and tired of the housekeeping and dreams of a cottage in Benidorm, Spain. Xavier inadvertently gives her the idea to start her own friterie to make some extra money. Unfortunately for (who fears he'll have to help out a lot if Carmen starts a friterie), Carmen considers this a brilliant idea and asks Boma for the venture capital. Boma believes in Carmen's plan and decides to help her. Just like Xavier, Pascale also isn't keen on the idea of Carmen having a friterie - she thinks it'll ruin her business when there's a friterie next door - and, with Xavier, thinks up a plan to nip Carmen's plan in the bud. Meanwhile, Billie, behaving like the typical teenager he is, clashes with Doortje once again. When Bieke suggests that Doortje might be a bit to strict for her little boy, Doortje tells her she'd like to see how Bieke would handle Billie if he'd lived with her and Mark for a week. Bieke takes up the challenge.

It's the day of Marc and Bieke's wedding. The men are released from prison after Marc's wild bachelor party. Just in time for the final preparations, which aren't progressing a bit. Nothing goes according to plan. Pascale gets frustrated.

Still on the cruise ship, Bieke is unhappy with Mark who has to work on board, Pascal wants to bring the two together, Olivier (who works on the ship) tries to sweet talk Bieke, Pol works out and Maurice films everything all the time.
