Overview
New Year's large historical drama special ``Oda Nobunaga'' starring Ken Watanabe. At a huge cost of 500 million yen, over 8,000 performers and 300 horses run across the screen. The story begins when Oda Nobunaga, a generation of fuunji, was called the Utsuke of Owari, and won numerous battles such as Okehazama, Mino, Asai and Asakura, the burning of Eizan, and the Battle of Nagashino. The story then depicts the 30-plus years from which Azuchi built an unprecedentedly gigantic castle to becoming the ruler of the world in both name and reality, with various episodes included. Ken Watanabe's unconventional "Oda Nobunaga" is a perfect role. The cast also includes Hiroki Matsukata, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jinpachi Nezu, Shinichi Chiba, Tomisaburo Wakayama, Yukiyo Jushu, Rino Katase, Mariko Fuji, Miyuki Kano, Yoko Tsukasa, and Yuko Natori. Nobunaga's heroic appearance on horseback at the Battle of Okehazama, the glittering costumes of the actresses, the majesty of the 100 tatami-sized hall of Azuchi Castle's castle tower and the aerial Noh stage, which cost 15 million yen to produce, all make this an extraordinary historical drama.
