The play is a fictional story with a broad background carefully crafted based on historical records. This costume drama uses a humorous and witty drama style to show the process of "ruling the country from a small insect to the destruction of the country by small insects" when Kublai Khan's army unified China in the late Southern Song Dynasty. Jia Sidao, who is known as the "Cricket Prime Minister" by the world, is an out-and-out gamer. Originally he only knew how to play with insects and was only willing to play with them. He was kicked out of the house by his father when he was young. Later, he entered the examination room under the coercion of his sweetheart. In desperation, he wrote an article about his experience of playing crickets. Suddenly, this "Cricket Sutra" was regarded as a treasure by the mediocre and playful Lizong of the Song Dynasty. Jia Sidao rose from a common citizen to a celebrity around the emperor, and then rose to become the most powerful prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty. From this, a historical drama with twists and turns, ridiculous, hateful and lamentable was performed.
