Overview
When Emperor Tuobahong of the Northern Wei Dynasty came of age, he fell in love with Miaolian, the daughter of Feng Xi's concubine, but the Empress Dowager Feng Guier firmly opposed it. Tuoba Hong was forced to give up and concentrate on government affairs. Miaolian wanted to commit suicide, but was rescued by the monk Wuwo. Tuoba Hong fell in love with Mingzhu who looked similar to Miaolian. Feng Guier took the pregnant Mingzhu into the palace and planned reform plans with the ministers. The royal family of Feng Xi tried to get rid of Mingzhu and make her daughter Feng Qing the queen. Miao Lian, who was bent on revenge on the Northern Wei Emperor Tuoba Hong, teamed up with the monk Wu Wo to set up a trap that almost caused Ming Zhu to miscarry. After Feng Guier quelled the rebellion of the minister King Jingzhao, he presided over Tuoba Hong's wedding. He secretly replaced the bride with Feng Qing, and Tuoba Hong was furious. Soon Feng Guier passed away.
